Airline updates October 2026
The most important airline updates and promotions of the past month can be found below! 👇
Since 5 October 2026, new ticketing time limits (TTL) apply to Lufthansa Group intercontinental flights, and from 19 October new advance purchase requirements (ADVP) follow. For bookings not yet ticketed before 5 October, a grace period of two weeks applies: ticket by 18 October 2026 at the latest. As that is a Sunday, Friday 16 October 2026 is probably the practical deadline. Flights to and from the US, Canada, Central America and Japan, and special fares such as TO fares, are excluded from this change.
What changes?
- From 5 October 2026: new TTL for new bookings and rebookings of existing PNRs. Tickets must be issued within a fixed number of days after reservation, no longer a fixed number of days before departure. The applicable deadline is communicated, as today, via the automatic notification (SSR/Vendor Remark).
- From 19 October 2026: the new advance purchase requirements are activated.
- Unticketed bookings from before 5 October 2026: two weeks of grace period. To avoid possible fare changes, it is best to ticket by 18 October 2026 at the latest. As that is a Sunday, Friday 16 October 2026 is probably the practical deadline.
- Transition period: the TTL and the ADVP deadline may temporarily differ. The strictest (earliest) deadline always prevails.
Exceptions: the changes do not apply to flights to or from the US, Canada, Central America or Japan, nor to special fares with existing exceptions, such as tour operator fares. For these, the current deadlines remain in force until further notice.
Between 22 and 24 September 2026, Air France, KLM and Delta adjusted their tour operator fares and YR levels from Belgium and Luxembourg. On long haul (USA, Canada, Mexico), the YR rises by €20 in economy, €50 in premium economy and €100 in business or La Première; on short and medium haul, net increases of €10 and €30 follow. Existing PNRs can still be issued manually at the previous level until 13 October 2026 (update of 22 September) or 15 October 2026 (updates of 24 September).
Keep in mind that AFKL Belux is not always notified when other markets or Points of Commencement (departure points) change their TO fares and conditions.
Reminder of TO conditions:
- For all TO fares, a proof of purchase of a land arrangement is required.
- For a trip of up to 4 days, the land arrangement must be valid for the entire trip. For a trip of more than 4 days, it is required for at least 4 days.
- The package includes at least one of the required land services (such as hotel, B&B, cruise, motorhome rental, car rental, language school or a round trip with overnight stays) for at least 4 days in total, or for the entire trip.
- Land arrangement and flight must be supplied by the same tour operator.
- At the request of an AFKL employee, you show a voucher (electronic or on paper) as proof. Without a voucher, an ADM may follow and a fare adjustment is applied.
Tip: guaranteed fares via NDC. With a booking via NDC, the selected fare remains guaranteed until the ticket is issued, as long as the fare conditions and the ticketing time limit are respected. For bookings via GDS, the TST is only valid for 24 hours. Taxes and surcharges can differ between the day of booking and the day of issue, so take this into account.
