From 29 July 2025, the new embarkation tax (S3 tax in your GDS) has come into effect. The tax is no longer dependent on whether the destination is within or outside the European Economic Area (EEA). The new rates are as follows:
- €10 per passenger for final destinations less than 500 km from Brussels Airport (BRU/EBBR)
- €5 per passenger for all destinations 500 km or more, regardless of location
This tax increase also applies to tickets already sold with a departure date after 29 July 2025, but it appears that full-service airlines, such as Brussels Airlines, will absorb this increase. It is possible that low-cost carriers will still pass this on to the customer, either at check-in or via an additional charge. There is no clarity on this at the moment.
Before this change, boarding taxes were €2 for destinations more than 500 km away within the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom or Switzerland, and €4 for destinations outside these areas.
Do you have customers who will be driving to Schiphol Airport? Please warn them that there may be traffic disruptions. Roadworks are taking place until 20 August on the A4 motorway between the Burgerveen junction and the De Hoek junction.
From 9 September 2025, all scheduled and charter flights to Phnom Penh will change from Phnom Penh International Airport (PNH) to the new Techo International Airport (KTI), located in Krong Ta Khmau, approximately 30–40 km south of Phnom Penh. The new airport has been given the official IATA code KTI.
From 7 November, ITA Airways will expand its operations on the African continent with a new flight to Mauritius.
This intercontinental route will be operated with the new Airbus A330neo equipped with three service classes: Business, Premium Economy and Economy.

From 12 October 2025, Royal Air Maroc will deploy a Boeing 737-800 on the BRU-RAK route instead of the current Embraer. The upgrade from the Embraer aircraft (90 seats) to a Boeing 737-800 (159 seats, including 12 in business and 147 in economy) means an increase of 69 seats per flight. Royal Air Maroc is thus capitalising on the growing popularity of Marrakech as a destination. The flight schedules (AT636 from Marrakech to Brussels and AT637 from Brussels to Marrakech) will remain the same.
